Basketball
It could be said that Citipointe grew up playing basketball as the sport was a prominent part of the early years. Recent times have seen a resurgence of basketball with success on Primary and Secondary school levels through interschool and club competitions. The glory days experienced by previous generations and some outstanding success over the past three years have provided the momentum towards the establishment of basketball as a Focus Sport in 2019. In its inaugural year as a Focus Sport, basketball has continued to create opportunities for Citipointe students as the program goes from strength to strength through its passionate and committed students, parents and staff.
The Citipointe basketball program offers several avenues for development and competition. Our P-12 program aims to develop balanced athletes who play basketball passionately and purposefully. The early years program (Prep to Year 2) aims to foster gross motor skills and court/games awareness. Games sense is focussed on through Years 3 to 6 with team cohesiveness and advanced structures increasing as players mature in the game through the Secondary school years.
Opportunities for competition are provided through interschool and club competitions.
Inter school competitions are provided via the Christian Schools Sports Association of Queensland (CSSAQ), the Southside Premier League and the School Sports Pathway which includes weekly fixtures leading to Metropolitan Finals and the Champion Basketball School of Queensland (CBSQ) Championships.
Citipointe Primary school teams compete in the following events:
- Mt Gravatt District Association Semester 2 competition (Fridays Years 4 to 6)
- CSSAQ Championships Senior Divisions (Term 4)
Citipointe Secondary school teams compete in the following events:
- South District Association Trimester 1 & Trimester 2 competitions (Tuesdays Years 7 to 9, Wednesdays Years 10 to 12)
- CSSAQ Championship Junior and Senior Divisions (Term 4)
- 15/U All Schools Basketball Championships (Term 4)
- Southside Premier League (Thursday evenings โ six pool rounds leading to Semi and Grand Finals)
- CBSQ Championships (last week of Term 3, Thursday to Sunday)

Club Basketball competitions are provided through the Southern Districts Basketball Association League. Club Basketball games are run separate to the College. The College supports the Club program through administrative assistance and the provision of facilities and equipment for training. All teams are coordinated, coached and managed by Citipointe parents. Citipointe currently has boys and girls teams competing from Under 7s through to Under 17s, with fixtures played on Friday nights (U13 Div 1 & Div 2 teams, U15 and U17) and Saturday mornings (U7, U9, U11, and U13 Div 3 & Div 4 teams).
