OUR MISSION

Our mission is to provide foreign language courses that assist in developing communicative skills and awareness of other cultures. We aim to ensure that students are able to express themselves fluently and confidently, in both oral and written language communication. All the while developing a love of language learning.

LANGUAGES OFFERED

We offer courses of study in the following languages: Chinese and French. The program runs from Prep through to Year 6.

Prep has a 12-week program for each language – one semester studying Chinese and one semester studying French.
In Years 1 to 6 the students will have two lessons a week in their chosen language, for the entire year to enable continuity and rapid progress in language learning. It is our recommendation that students pursue the same language throughout their years of primary schooling.

Chinese

Chinese is one of the most spoken languages in the world.  At Citipointe Christian College, we enable students to attain basic language skills and increase both interest and understanding in Chinese culture. The contents of our Chinese lessons are closely related to daily communication. This encourages our students to use Chinese language in daily life situations. This is applied through learning Pinyin, Chinese Characters, dialogues, role play, songs and stories.

French

At Citipointe, French is taught from Prep to Year 6 twice a week, with an emphasis on meaningful production and cultural awareness. There is an initial focus on listening and speaking, followed by reading and writing as student’s progress. Students learn in a friendly and supportive atmosphere using songs, games, movement and role plays. Prep classes provide a brief introduction to the French language over 18 weeks. In Years 1-3, classes learn about family and friends, the school day, clothing and animal adventures, followed in Years 4-6 with biblical characters, holidays, school life, traditional French stories and life changes. At the end of Year 6, students move seamlessly up to Citipointe Secondary where they can continue to develop their French skills.
