Homestay

Homestay families are selected from our large Church and College community, so we know our homestay families personally and many of them have their own children attending the College. All our homestay families are committed Christians who have met the stringent requirements set by the College. Homestay families are selected and screened very carefully.

Living with an Australian family helps English develop quickly. The homestay family provides help with homework, family outings and many social occasions so the student is not lonely. Homestay brothers and sisters help the international student make friends with local children and settle in quickly to life in Brisbane.

Mrs Jakins meets new students at the airport and takes them to their homestay family. At the College, her office is close to classrooms so that it is easy for students to speak with her if they have a problem. She screens all homestay families and keeps in regular contact with them to make sure that students are well cared for.
